Introduction to Differential Pressure Transmitter

Differential Pressure Transmitters is use in domestic and industrial applications, these transmitters ensure that the measurements are adequate and independent of other changing parameters. Industrial applications of these transmitters include:

An increase in differential pressure would occur if P1 became smaller OR if P2 became larger. In a similar way, a decrease in differential pressure would occur if P1 became larger OR if P2 became smaller. The differential pressure measurement is not concerned whether the lower of the two pressures is at a vacuum, atmospheric or some other pressure. It is only interested in the difference between the two pressures being measured.

Differential pressure transducers may be used for numerous fluids and gases, e. g. for monitoring ventilation ducts, filters and fans in HVAC areas as well as for level measurement in closed pressurized tanks. Not all gauges, sensors, transducers and transmitters that measure differential pressure actually measure the difference between two pressures. Some devices attempt to measure two atmospheric or gauge pressures and then mathematically calculate the difference.
