Teens-only Social Network Launches

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- TheClazz is a platform exclusively for teenagers that puts the "social" back in social networking. TheClazz is the first social network to incorporate an atmosphere free from the pressure of parents, bullying, and "likes." The teenage founders developed their platform to enable teens to no longer be concerned with how many followers or likes each users get, but rather be focused on establishing quality interactions with their peers.

Jonathan Saitta, founder and CEO of TheClazz states that, "This isn't for those 500 friends you have on Facebook. It's about freedom to have real interactions with your real friends without all those eternal pressures."

In order to keep adults from the website, they developed a "selfie-verification" process upon signup where users submit a "selfie" of themselves holding a special code to prove they are teenagers.

To prevent cyber-bulling, TheClazz developed a "STOP" button which automatically records the page's information and sends it as a report for further investigation. This allows users to report all kinds of inappropriate behavior on the site, including instant messages and photos.

Jonathan Saitta states, "It was important for us to establish a strong stance against cyberbullying and other inappropriate conduct on our site - given that there are no parents to keep their kids accountable on our platform. We take that role very seriously"

Finally, TheClazz does not have any kind of "like" or "favorite" feature on their user's posts. The founders of TheClazz hope that this will encourage teenagers to feel more comfortable posting and sharing what they want with their friends without regarding how many likes they will receive.

Given that both of TheClazz's founders are teenagers, they offer a unique perspective on the needs of teen social media platforms. Mace Anderson, founder and CMO states, "We realized that teenagers are quite possibly the most important demographic in all of social media, and yet they are the most neglected. We decided that there should be a social network that was for teens, by teens."

TheClazz is also building a coalition of teenage social media stars to join their platform. "This is a unique opportunity for teenage bloggers, youtubers, etc. to reach their base more effectively than ever before" says Mace.

TheClazz will officially launch on Monday, June 8, 2015
