Rotary Club of Bangalore Distributes 1500 colorful Desks to various schools of Nali Kali Children

BANGALORE, India -- Rotary Club of Bangalore (RCB), Eighty year old and the second largest in India, is part of 106 year old Rotary International, has always been on the move to improve schools has recently launched ‘Desk Projects’ along with Menda Foundation by facilitating the students with 1500 Desks to various schools in Bangalore including rural areas of Malur.

“Upholding the ‘Spirit of Giving’ the Community Services of RCB showed its support towards Nali Kali an initiative of the Indian Government by providing desks to our schools across Karnataka,” said Rtn. Manjunath, Chairman of Community services. RCB has been distributing these colorful desks specially designed for the children in Nali Kali. Menda Foundation matched the contribution received from the Rotarians to make it a grand success”, he added.

Previously the children were sitting and keeping their study material on the floor which led to bending of the back and hence lack of concentration. These ergonomical and colourful benches will help students to stay better focused. These desks have been distributed to many schools in and around Bangalore, including the one where Sir M Vishveshwaraih studied in Mudenahalli. There has been a little more concentration in Malur, by virtue of RCB having built 16 schools in that area. A total of 28 schools have been benefitted. All these come under the banner of Rotary India Literacy Mission also known as TEACH.

RCB is proposing to cover as many govt. schools as possible, firstly in and around Bangalore and then expand to the rest of the state. Funds are being raised through various channels from individual donors, to corporate houses like RMZ foundation to financial institutions.

In addition, the Community Services of RCB is involved in various budding projects such as Tree Plantation Project in Govt. Schools, Light for Education, Supporting Old age homes, and Providing Dining Benches for Nagadevana Halli School.
