First Microsoft store in New York opening up near Apple’s Argyll Free Press

According to the New York Daily News, sources suggest that Microsoft may be opening up a shop in New York, Fifth Avenue. In fact, specifically speaking there is news that the company is negotiating to take control of the Fendi store on 677 Fifth Avenue near 53rd street. What’s more interesting but quite unsurprising is the fact that it will be just five blocks away from Apple’s Fifth Avenue Store.

In 2005 rumors suggested that Microsoft would be occupying a retail store in the prestigious One Times Square Building but nothing evident surfaced that would suggest that the plans were followed through. Microsoft has not commented on the Daily News Report except for a vague and generalized statement about how Microsoft tries to find the best possible locations for its retail stores.

Apple opened its first Fifth Avenue Store in 2006 which was four years after opening its first Manhattan store in SoHo. The store is said to have been designed by Steve Jobs, its open 24/7 and has become quite an attractive spot for people, so much so that it has become one of the most photographed places in the city.
