Willy Bo Richardson shares how discovering real world limitations allows him greater flexibility in the moment in the New Mexico PBS weekly art series ¡COLORES!.

For over 20 years, in a variety of formats, PBS ¡COLORES! episodes have explored the arts, music, history and culture of New Mexico and the American southwest. ¡COLORES! stories, originating from New Mexico, continue to be seen and shared with other PBS stations across the U.S.

Richardson joined Santa Fe University’s Art Department in 2010. He lived and worked in New York City for a decade, where he immersed himself in the international art scene. His work has been exhibited in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Hamburg and Melbourne. In 2007, he returned to his hometown of Santa Fe. In 2011 his work was included in the exhibition at Jason McCoy Gallery in New York titled, “70 Years of Abstract Painting – Excerpts”. The show assembled works by a selection of modern and contemporary painters, including Josef Albers, Hans Hofmann and Jackson Pollock. In 2012 he showed a body of work in the exhibition “Watercolors” at the Phillips de Pury headquarters in Chelsea New York.

Richardson holds an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute in New York and a BA in Fine Arts from University of Texas at Austin.
