Question - Please tell us about yourself and what makes your life contented and happy?

Contentment and Happiness is the most important substance of life. When I started to be a teenager, I wanted to know more what the meaning of life is, why I was born in this world and why is my name NESTOR C. BUENAFLOR? I learned the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Technique of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and later became Transcendental Meditation teacher. TM meditation gives me peace, contentment and happiness even during simple situations.

My good friend Bob Roth who is the Executive Director of the David Lynch Foundation has taught TM meditation to many respectable people like George Stephanopoulos, former White House Chief-of-Staff of US President Bill Clinton. Some other famous people who do TM meditation are Oprah Winfrey, Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, The Beatles, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Pamela Peeke, Arianna Huffington of Huffington Post and Ray Dalio, founder “Bridgewater Associates” - world's largest Hedge Fund / investment firm.

I can't forget that time after my work at George Washington University (GWU – alma mater of US first lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy) in Washington DC when I was with Bob Roth and I noticed a kind of joy radiating from him which is so sincere that I thought is has an important meaning in life. Positive contentment and happiness brings good health

Question - Who is your secret personal inspiration in life?

My TM Meditation teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is my great inspiration but there is a special person that I really looked up to as a secret personal inspiration. He is the older brother of my grandmother Doña Maria Cusi, the mother of my dad. He is the most brilliant Law Student in Spain during the Philippine-Spanish era. He completed LawSchool in Madrid in only 2 years and has influenced my great-grandfather Don Felipe Calderon - recognized in the Philippines as National Hero - the “FATHER of the PHILIPPINE CONSTITUTION”

The whole line of my great-grandfathers from the CUSI Family has a title called “Gobernadorcillo” of Bauan, Batangas during the Philippine Spanish era. Don Alberto Cusi is the most prominent of them all.

My grandmother, Doña Maria Cusi, the daughter of the Gobernadorcillo was love very much as their own daughter by the wife of Don Felipe Calderon since they don't have a daughter. This secret family story always tickled my mind and made me wonder how life was back then in that generation, why I am here in this lifetime and what am I suppose to be? It was a real secret inspiration to me and a paradox.

Question - You are the strategic consultant of the beauty pageant Miss Earth Thailand; can you explain to us what does a consultant in this kind of important event?

My job as strategic consultant is a general work that I do for corporations or organizations like Miss Earth Thailand beauty pageant, Being a strategic consultant can be many things. You can be a Salesman of a multi-million dollars contract or Marketing Specialist or a Business Development Visionary like how I made cooperation with my very good friend Jean-Christophe Rousseau who is the Inventor and Creator of LUXOR – the most prestigious sumptuous nectar Champagne.

LUXOR Champagne with edible 24 Karats gold gained the highest respect from wine connoisseurs. Lots of celebrities love LUXOR Champagne which include Princess Charlene of Monaco, Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Rihanna, Will.I.Am (Black Eyed Peas), P. Diddy, George Michael, Fernando Alonzo, Ronaldo, Tony Parker and even Prince Albert II of Monaco joined LUXOR in a benefit project that shared proceeds to a charity program.

Question - Do you think that this pageant is still interesting for the people?

There are more than 120 franchises of the Miss Earth pageant all over the world and Miss Earth Thailand pageant is one of the franchises that aim to promote the protection of the environment. In the Kingdom of Thailand, the protection of the environment is an important affair of the Royal Family. Her Majesty Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and His Majesty King Bhumibol has projects that promote the well being of farmers and supported agricultural technologies.

UNEP worked with the only 2 monarchs in the world on their “Billion Trees planting project” - Her Majesty Princess Maha Chakri Sirinhorn of Thailand and His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. Organic farming is an environmental strategy to protect the soil and maintain its fertility. The winner of Miss Earth-Water 2013 is Miss Earth Thailand 2013 Punika Kulsoontornrut who is an agriculturist, environmentalist and will apply her knowledge in agriculture technology in the promotion of pro-environment projects.

Question - What is the difference between the traditional Miss World and Miss Earth?

Miss Earth is an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. Along with its rivals Miss Universe and Miss World contests, Miss Earth is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions to participate in the world finals. The Miss Earth winner is the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations like Greenpeace and World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Question - How did you improve the pageant of Miss Earth Thailand?

In previous years, the Miss Earth Thailand representative is chosen from candidates of the Miss Universe Thailand. In one of my private telephone conference with my friend Miss Earth beauty pageant founder / owner Lorraine Schuck, we decided to start an independent Miss Earth Thailand franchise to make environmental awareness campaign stronger and give recognitions to beautiful pro-environment Thailand ladies.

NOTE: The winners of MISS EARTH THAILAND 2013 are Punika Kulsoontornrut (Miss Earth Thailand 2013), Chanuchada Suksan (Miss Earth Air Thailand 2013), Rattanaporn Yaowaret (Miss Earth Water Thailand 2013) and Karn Chutirat Thamraksa (Miss Earth Fire Thailand 2013).
