BURBANK, Calif. -- The filmmakers behind one of 2013’s most acclaimed sonnet to everything geek, Rise of the Fellowship want you involved in their next production!
Award-winning director Ron Newcomb has taken to Kickstarter to launch his exciting new project, The Rangers – an adventure-ridden web series about an elite unit of Rangers who uncover a long-forgotten peril of ancient evil reawakening.
Like Rise of the Fellowship, Newcomb’s latest is a film for the fans –only this time, the fans will be involved in its creation!
By using Kickstarter, The Rangers can be financed quicker and also retain its independent roots. It’s also a way for film fans and budding producers to get involved in a series that’s already being touted as the www’s answer to Game of Thrones.
A video game, novels, a table top battle game, and a Rangers card game are just a few of the ancillary spin-off projects in the works to extended the range and appeal of The Rangers brand.
The filmmakers behind the web series are looking to raise $60,000 in just over a month. As soon as they hit their budget, the episodes go into production.
“The Rangers is currently in full scale pre-production, with all that entails”, say the filmmakers. “We are working hard towards hammering-out, honing, and finalizing our epic script. (Our team of writers has turned out an awesome story for us to work with!) We have already completed a successful concept photo shoot and created some great looking test footage. Now we are deep in, scouting, confirming locations, and assembling a winning team. The time is upon us, and we are asking for your support to take this project the next level!”
The Rangers is produced by Newcomb, Scott Mathias and Skip Lipman, with Medieval Collectibles sponsoring the Kickstarter drive.
