Alma Mei Teams Up with The Orphaned Earring and Makes Fashion Look Good by helping Orphans

MIAMI -- Alma Mei, a fashion forward boutique based in Miami teams up with the non- profit The Orphaned Earring as part of their philanthropic business model to help orphaned children in Latin America.

Founded by the common love of fashion, a distinct interest in community service, female empowerment, and social change between two Latina friends, Alma Mei boutique was created as a way to give fashion lovers everywhere an opportunity to shop for trendsetting looks while allowing them to be part of a greater cause.

Every quarter Alma Mei selects a charity organization and donates 10% of their proceeds as a way to have customers shop guilt-free while giving back. And to kick-off 2014 they’ve selected The Orphaned Earring as the beneficiary charity. In addition, Alma Mei is including The Orphaned Earring bracelets to their fashion line for the duration of the partnership.

“Giving back is an integral part of our business,” said Liz de la Cruz, fashionista and co-founder of Alma Mei. We wanted to create a win-win situation and we feel confident that we have,” she added.

“There's nothing wrong with having an entrepreneur spirit and wanting to make money, said Gaby Ortega, co-founder Alma Mei, but it’s also important to give back to our community.”

Through this collaboration, children at four orphanages in Latin America will benefit by receiving food and clothes to meet their basic needs and arts & crafts as a way to bring healing to orphaned children. “Our orphans depend on the help of our community and we’re excited to receive help in an unconventional way,” said Denisse Montalvan, founder of The Orphaned Earring. “Even more exciting is to see our bracelets be part of prestigious boutique,” she added.
