About 360 Media and Sherpa: 360 Media is a full service film and television production company. Two years ago, 360 Media founder/producer Robert Cord Beatty, (Beatty) set out on a quest to Nepal to film on the mountains and highest peaks surrounding Mount Everest in the creation of the documentary film SHERPA The Untold Story of Tenzing Norgay.

About SHERPA: During the filming of this documentary, Beatty was led by Alpine Ascents International Expedition Guide, Kami Rita Sherpa, who has summited Mount Everest over 20 times in his career. During the filming Beatty learned several truths that he considered potentially un-documented. These untold stories surrounding the 1953 Summit of Mount Everest by Sherpa, Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary, failed to give credit where credit was due to Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. This humble, true mountaineering hero from Nepal did what no other man had ever done. On May 29th 1953, Tenzing Norgay led the epic Summit of what was considered the last un-conquered frontier known as Mount Everest. This story is about that man and the people called Sherpa.

Beatty discovered that the duties, responsibilities, and heritage of the modern day men known as Sherpa, put their lives on the line every day to insure the safety of the men and woman who attempt to climb the treacherous 8,000 meter peaks of the Himalaya. For the Sherpa it is simply their duty. SHERPA the movie enlightens the crucial necessity of these men. For those of us who attempt these treacherous climbs the Sherpa are vital for their success and safety.

While trekking and filming, Beatty found that Tenzing Norgay and the brave men that we all know now as Sherpa, are truly humble heroes who receive very little credit for the importance in this roll.

This ambitious film is the untold truth of the heroic 1953 summit of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Through the eyes of this producer, he learned the truth history and the importance of the mysteries of the Sherpa.

One of Sir Edmund Hillary’s greatest contributions to this depressed region was the building of the Edmund Hillary School in the village of Khumjung high in the Himalayan Mountains. A chance meeting with 85 year old British humanitarian Ray Illman, who had provided hundreds of thousands of dollars to the school, in order to continue Sir Edmond Hillary’s work. Beatty found that this school along with the other schools in the Khumbu region was highly underfunded. The school was in need of modern equipment, basic school supplies, sanitary bathrooms, and running water to support the children who live at these schools. Compelled by this, Beatty along with Co-Executive Producers Brent Miner and Todd Spriggs established the Sherpa Heritage Foundation and 7 Summits Adventure Gear, an adventure clothing line designed and made by the Sherpa people in Nepal. The Company is organized with a portion of the proceeds of each sale of clothing going to the foundation to assist in the ongoing needs of these remote schools.

About Cannes Film Festival: The Cannes International Film Festival (French: Le Festival International du Film de Cannes or just Festival de Cannes), is an annual film festival held in Cannes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannes), France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. Founded in 1946, it is one of the most prestigious and publicized film festivals in the world. The invitation-only festival is held annually at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palais_des_Festivals_et_des_...).

Producer Robert Cord Beatty Stated: We are so very honored to have been invited and accepted to show at this years annual Cannes International Film Festival. This prestigious invitation only film festival is not easily accessible for independent filmmakers. Being invited to show has been only a dream of mine during my career as a producer. Acceptance into this years Cannes Film Festival is a true testament in itself of the importance that our story of Tenzing Norgay is to the world. Working on this film has been one of the most amazing experiences of my entire life. My partners and I have been so blessed by the true humility of the Sherpa people. They express a desire for the world to know the value and importance of the contribution of Tenzing Norgay as their country's hero. Compelled to tell the story of Norgay’s individual contribution to the success of Sir Edmund Hillary reaching the last un-conquered frontier known as Mount Everest, SHERPA the Movie became a reality. In today’s pursuit to attain the Summit of Mount Everest, it has become a rich man’s ego driven game. I am one individual and producer who can say that this experience and the friendships I have gained from the Sherpa people have truly changed my life.
