NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Makenzie Bennett is as pure of a "student-athlete" as they come. A 2014 women's swim prospect, even with a 4.0 GPA and a 30 ACT score, Makenzie had a lot of trouble being noticed by college coaches. Growing up in the small town of Carlisle, Arkansas, a town know for it's football among other sports, but not women's swimming. That is, until Makenzie created the Carlisle swim team. A regular coach for the Lonoke Shark Rockets, Makenzie and her mother realized there was a need at Carlisle High School, and they solved it. Working with Athletic Director Brandon Barbaree, they were able to successfully implement the swim team at Carlisle this past year.

Still not getting attention from college coaches, Makenzie and her mother Tara turned to a friend of a friend, Director of Scouting for National Scouting Report, Robby Wilson. Robby is the Director of Scouting for National Scouting Report, responsible for the state of Arkansas. National Scouting Report is a 34 year old scouting company that has worked with very many high profile athletes over their 34 year reign as the leader in college scouting services and until earlier in 2013, never had a scout stationed in Arkansas. Mr. Wilson had this to say:

"National Scouting Report has been doing phenomenal things for 34 years, helping talented and deserving athletes get the adequate amount of exposure not only to get options in the recruiting process, but more importantly, to 'find the right fit' for the athlete. NSR's success rate over a 34 year period is 95% placement of athletes with college athletic programs. In women's swimming alone, there are 537 college swim programs across the nation. So for someone to say they were talented, great academics, great character, and determined, but didn't get recruited? That's the lack of exposure. The golden rule in recruiting: a college coach can't recruit somebody they don't know about. That is what I hope to fix in the state of Arkansas with being the Director of Scouting for National Scouting Report in Arkansas. I hope to get Arkansas athletes a fair shake in the recruiting process. Whether it's football, softball, or swimming, if the athlete meets NSR standards, you can bet I will not rest until they get what they want and what they deserve."

Starting earlier in 2013 as the Director of Scouting for Arkansas, Wilson has hit the ground running. Scouting various High School, Club, and Travel events across the state. While some sports call for prospects of younger classes, the current seniors present the opportunity for him to see everything he's been working so hard towards to come true. 2014 women's swim prospect Makenzie Bennett is just that. "I remember sitting there at her parent's kitchen table during her in-home interview. I remember seeing the excitement in her eyes and I knew, I have to spend every minute and resource possible to make sure this young lady gets what she dreams about and has truly worked towards over the years. I remember thinking she's there, she deserves it, but it hasn't come true. I'm going to change that." Wilson said.

Makenzie Bennett is a 2014 women's swim prospect from Carlisle high school in Carlisle, Arkansas. She is the daughter of Tara and David Bennett. Makenzie has accepted a swimming scholarship offer to Milligan College in Milligan College, Tennessee. Makenzie's signing day with the Milligan College Buffaloes is scheduled for: Thursday, December 5th, 2013 at 1:30pm. The signing will be held at Carlisle High School in Carlisle, Arkansas.
