develLAB Electronics achieves the full throughput of 5 Gbps File Transfers with USB3 XFR™

PORTLAND, Ore. -- develLAB Electronics Inc. announces the achievement of reliable file transfers at 400 Megabytes per second between two desktop computers using its USB3 XFR™ cable; realizing the effective throughput of USB 3.0 by bridging two USB 3.0 host systems. Tests validated speed and accuracy of both compressed and uncompressed files ranging in size from 100 Kilobytes to 1 Gigabyte, sent in both directions.

USB3 XFR™ transfer speeds are twenty-five times faster than current USB2 file transfer cables and over seven times faster than Gigabit Ethernet. Ren Condotta, President of develLAB, is clear about the need for Super-fast file transfers: “A typical household now has five or more computing devices and several terabytes of digital content. We believe time is better spent enjoying movies, photos and music, than waiting for file transfers to complete. USB3 XFR™ simplifies and accelerates the tedious task of managing the ever expanding stores of content across personal devices. It’s all about giving consumers the means to have their content in hand using the fastest, easiest and most familiar personal data connection available – USB 3.0."

Vice President of Business Development, Jim Kenney (formerly with VIA and FTDI) is delighted: "The USB3 XFR™ is exactly what the market has been seeking – a replacement for the old USB2 data transfer cable is long overdue. USB2 transfer cables sold millions in past years; but today’s demands necessitate USB3 Personal Area Networks for speed, cost, security and simplicity.” Kenney is eager to get started: “We are busy scheduling private demonstrations for CES 2014 in January."

Having met with OEMs and partners at CE Week in New York earlier this year, Condotta is pleased with the progress of the USB3 XFR™ technology platform: “develLAB has really raised the bar in the PC File Transfer and File Sync arena. The USB3 XFR™ is a tangible demonstration of things to come.”

USB3 XFR™ is immediately available as the newest member of develLAB’s iflexxia™ family of cables.
