PS Racing prepares for Macau GP Audi R8 LMS Cup with strong driver line-up

MACAO, Macao -- Macau SAR-

With the opening ceremonies of the prestigious 60th Macau Grand Prix just a few days away, the two-weekend event will host everything from Porsche Carrera Cup Asia to Audi R8 LMS Cup, and in formula cars both Formula Masters and the famous Macau F3 Grand Prix.

Promising to be the most exciting Macau GP ever, with double-weekend action in celebration of the Grand Prix’s 60th anniversary, PS Racing will be running two star drivers for the Brothers Racing Team in the Audi R8 LMS Cup: Current Audi R8 LMS Cup Macau lap record holder and DTM driver Italian Edoardo Mortara, a former Formula Three Euroseries champion and the only man to win the prestigious Macau Grand Prix twice in F3 (2009 and 2010; 2011 & 2012 in GT) as well as current Super GT driver Andre Couto, the Macau native who is best known for winning his home F3 Grand Prix in 2000 along with competition in WTCC and F3000.

The two famous drivers will be managed by PS Racing’s Pekka Saarinen in the Audi R8 LMS Cup’s BRT1 & BRT 2 Teams (Brothers Racing Team 1&2) in order to fill in for Sun Zheng, who will compete in the second weekend’s Macau F3 GP and thus is ineligible to compete in the Audi R8 LMS Cup this weekend, and Ren ‘Ricky’ Wei who is unable to race with scheduling conflicts. Rounding out the PSR-managed drive will be Sun ‘JZ’ Jing Zu, who will be racing at the famous Macau Guia Circuit for the first time in the Audi R8 LMS Cup car.

Sun Zheng recently gave another strong showing in the Audi R8 LMS Cup at Shanghai International Circuit two weeks ago, taking P1 in the second official practice and finishing in the top 5. However, Sun Zheng also gained notoriety recently for becoming the 2013 British F3 National Class Champion and the first Chinese driver to win an F3 Championship, and aims to make a strong showing in this year’s Macau F3 Grand Prix.

Qualifying for the Audi R8 LMS Cup will begin at 12:50pm this Saturday, with the race held Sunday at 10:25am.
