Jackson Records Redefines Bengali Audio Drama

KOLKATA, India -- Audio Drama, commonly recognized as Radio Play is the toughest form of acting. It is an art of imagination. Jackson Records created history on September 20, 2013 when 2 exclusive audio drama albums - 'Shesh Ontora' & 'Chorkata' along with another live audio drama album 'Samparko', were released at the Bangla Academy Sabhaghar, Kolkata. Director of Drama Section, All India Radio Kolkata, Mr. Deepak Poddar inaugurated the albums.

The combined efforts of the Script Writer, Director & Actress Smt. Ranjana Bhanja and legendary actors like Shri Debshankar Halder, Shri Satinath Mukhopadhyay, Shri Soumitro Basu & Shri Jagannath Basu have added to the significance of the two albums 'Shesh Ontora' and 'Chorkata'.

"Many dramatists perform on my scripts these days. The four plays contained in these two exclusive CDs are scripts that were the most popular amongst my audience over the recent years. Few people have also asked for these scripts but these four scripts are close to my heart and I believe newbies of this industry should first learn from the experienced artists and then try out such difficult scripts on stage. So I always wanted to record these albums and I believe that the artists who have performed on my scripts are the epitomes of the industry. I think it will be helpful for the newbies and all the people who are interested in this art form of audio play for understanding the level of excellence and involvement in acting. I am happy that finallly this project is a success and I thank Jackson Records for the hardwork they have done to promote this art form to the world audience." - says, director, script writer & actress, Ranjana Bhanja.

Eminent actor Satinath Mukhopadhyay says, "I am really happy with the efforts of Ranjana to create these albums and with the extraordinary skills of Jackson Records, audio drama which is a much-ignored form of culture, will certainly gain global audience in the near future. I feel good to be a part of this project."

After the inauguration of the CDs, Deepak Poddar and other performing artists delivered their speeches and one thing was common in all of their outlooks, that they believe that the culture of audio drama can reach new heights with the efforts made by Jackson Records.

"I want to create an exchange of global culture and put forward the old art forms like audio drama and other forms of drama to encourage the new talents of the industry. Good part is, over the past 3 - 4 years, people of our country have again started rethinking about different styles of audio acting, howver, the sad part is, we are still confined to the boundaries of our state or linguistic boundaries. If translations could be made, these great scripts shall reach greater audience and will definitely be loved by the people. This project is a big milestone, yet I feel small, because sky is the limit. This is just the beginning." - says Utsab Bhanja (director, Digisys Media Network | Jackson Records).

The audio recordings will be soon available in leading stores worldwide and now the verdict rests on the audience.
