iWave’s Freescale Vybrid SOM

BANGALORE, India -- iWave Systems Technologies, one of the leading design services companies in the embedded world, has launched a small form factor µMXM SOM (System on Module) based on Freescale’s Vybrid VF6xx family solution combining ARM Cortex-A5 and Cortex-M4 cores. The SOM supports 256MB DDR3 and, 256MB NAND Flash which can be expandable on need basis. iWave's path breaking design capability has shattered the bottle necks in bringing the SOM module at a size of 85mmx40mm as per iWave’s MXM Specification, µMXM form factor. Vybrid controller solutions are built on an asymmetrical-multiprocessing architecture using ARM® cores as the anchor for the platform. They are ideal for many industrial applications. The Vybrid VF6xx family provides a highly integrated heterogeneous dual-core solution incorporating the ARM® Cortex™-A5 MPU for rich set interfaces & connectivity options with ARM® Cortex™-M4 MCU for low-power offload and real-time responsive applications. Along with dual-core solution Vybrid VF6xx family has 1.5 MB on-chip SRAM, DDR2/DDR3 and dual XiP quad SPI memory interfaces. They are perfect for solutions that concurrently run a commercial operating system such as Linux® on the Cortex-A class core and an RTOS like MQX™ on the Cortex-M class core. By the combination of ARM Cortex-A5 and Cortex-M4 cores, Vybrid VF6xx devices often eliminate the need for an external MCU or field-programmable gate array (FPGA). The SOM will be supported with Linux BSPs in the initial release. The SOM and the development Kit are expected to be shipped from Oct, 2013. iW-RainboW-G16M-µMXM Vybrid CPU module supports the following features: On Board peripherals support • Vybrid VF6xx/VF6xx Series MPU • 256MB DDR3RAM (Expandable upto 1GB) • 256MB NAND Flash (Expandable upto 8GB) • On module 10/100 Ethernet PHY • QSPI Flash, EEPROM (Optional) • AG Header for processor (Optional) • Open SDA Header (Optional) µMXM PCB Edge Connector Interfaces • 10/100 Ethernet PHY interface – 1 Port • 2nd Ethernet (RMII) or Camera (8bit) interface • 24bpp RGB LCD interface • USB Host 2.0 – 1 Port • USB OTG 2.0 – 1 Port • I2S/SAI Audio – 1 Port • SD (4bit) – 1 Port • SPI – 2 Ports • QSPI or SPDIF or UART interface – 1 Port • CAN - 2 ports • Debug UART - 1 Port • UART - 2 Ports • I2C - 2 Ports • GPIOs - 8nos • 12-bit ADC - 4 channels • 12 bit DAC – 2 channels • Video ADC – 4 channels Vybrid SOM, Vybrid, Freescale’s Vybrid, ARM Cortex-A5, Vybrid Devices, Vybrid VF6x, MXM, iWave, iWave Systems, SOM, Linux, Vybrid, VF5xx, VF6xx, Freescale VF6xx, Freescale VF5xx, Vybrid SOM, Vybrid CPU module, Dual heterogeneous core, Asymmetric multiprocessing, Dual Core, SOM, CPU module, ARM cortex A5, ARM Cortex M4, MQX More details about this CPU module can be found in the following link; http://www.iwavesystems.com/product/cpu-modules/vybrid-vf... iWave Systems Technologies Pvt Ltd.
