Global Summit Focusing on Developing Local Content Policies to Create In-Country Value

CLAPHAM JUNCTION, U.K. -- Leaders from the global oil and gas industry are confirmed to participate at the NOCs & Governments Summit, taking place 28-30 October 2013, at the Mandarin Oriental, London. Industry experts include Hon Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Ministry of Energy, Ghana; Engr Ernest C Nwapa, CEO & Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board; Nuno de Oliveira, CEO, Petromoc, Mozambique; Elias Kilembe, Senior Principal Geologist & Director of Local Content, Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation; Cesar Augusto Hinestrosa Gómez, Director of Local Content, Ministry of Mines, Industry & Energy, Equatorial Guinea; and H.E. Thamir Ghadhban, Chairman, Prime Minister’s Office Advisory Committee, Republic of Iraq.

These industry leaders will provide insights into Local Content policies in Africa and evaluate their effectiveness through discussion on their current challenges and the potential opportunities from capitalising on experiences from across the globe, including their neighbouring countries. The two day strategic Summit will draw on parallels between regulated approaches and developing Local Content initiatives.

Conducted under the Chatham House Rule, NOCs & Governments is spearheaded by the Global Local Content Council (GLCC) an expert panel comprised of thought leaders at the forefront of Local Content and In-Country Value initiatives around the world, led by Willy Olson. The Summit will capitalise on experiences from across the globe and participants will discuss strategies that will develop Local Content, drive job creation and aid technology transfer. It will look to answer the definitive question: how can we best facilitate the shift from revenue to value in resource holding nations?

The NOCs & Governments Summit will explore strategies to create In-Country value and foster growth and development within resource holding nations. Taking place on 28-30 October 2013 at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, London, the Summit provides a platform for an interactive format, offering the ideal environment for facilitating constructive, frank discussions between key stakeholders to develop crucial strategies required to drive the industry forward.
