These consumers can get a new start with banks and credit unions in Ohio offering "Second Chance" and "Fresh Start" checking account programs. These special checking accounts allow Chexsystems victims to get back on the good side of financial institutions with checkwriting privilages and either a MasterCard or Visa Debit card.
When a consumer enters into one of these programs they will need to make sure they balance their checkbook properly to prevent any overdrafts. Depending on the financial institution and their program policy, the special account holder will have the chance to convert their special account to a regular checking account after about a year of good banking behavior.
