Visitors to Seawork in 2013 will be amongst the first to experience Delta’s newly designed and technical Typhoon RIB. It’s an important development for Delta as it is an entirely new high performance and fuel efficient hull form, suitable for multiple commercial, military and offshore roles.

The Typhoon range, which currently tops out at an overall length of 9.00m, has been developed over the last three years to achieve speeds well in excess of 50knots. The hull retains a very high bow sheer and similar dead rise - but with redesigned spray rails and chines to improve efficiency. As a result, the hull form requires less input power to achieve the same performance as the original Delta hull. So smaller engines that use less fuel can be fitted; or the same sized propulsion units give greater performance.

Delta received its first orders for the Typhoon in 2013 from PetroMasila for use as Coastal patrol vessels. The Typhoon at Seawork is a completely open, modular design; so all parts are removable and simple to maintain. It is a 9m variant with twin high performance Mercury Verado 300Hp Outboards, with a top speed in excess of 50knts and special features include a newly developed command console which has been designed with high speed operation and modern navigation equipment in mind. 4 x Ullman Biscaya shock mitigation seats, two large 350L fuel tanks, VHF and chart plotter along with other navigation equipment.

The Delta Typhoon will be quayside on Barrus’ berth, along with another Delta model, the highly successful Phantom wheelhouse RIB. The Phantom on display is a jet version built to class under Bureau Veritas.
