Marquis Who's Who Honors John T. Fallon, MD, PhD, for Success in Pathology and Higher Education

GREENVILLE, NC, February 07, 2024 - John T. Fallon, MD, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Fallon is renowned for his expertise as a pathologist and educator who began his medical career at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1974. He spent 20 years treating patients at the hospital, specializing in cardiovascular disease. Pivoting to higher education, Dr. Fallon taught pathology courses at Harvard University, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and New York Medical College. In 2019, he joined East Carolina University as a professor and chair of pathology, teaching courses and directing research for residents and medical students.

Besides lecturing and practicing medicine, Dr. Fallon found success as the director of laboratory services at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, from 2009 to 2019. He has since served in the same position at ECU Health in Greenville, North Carolina, beginning in 2019.

Among various accomplishments as a seasoned researcher in medical science, one of Dr. Fallon's most notable was his groundbreaking paper from the 1980s, which provided a critical understanding of the leading cause of heart attacks.

Dr. Fallon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Providence College in 1968 and a Doctor of Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy from Albany Medical College in 1974. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include anatomic pathology residency, a National Institutes of Health public health service postdoctoral fellowship in pathology, a clinical and research fellowship in pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and a second clinical fellowship in pathology at Harvard University. Dr. Fallon also received board certification in anatomic pathology through the American Board of Pathology. In 2023, he completed several professional courses in artificial intelligence and occupational safety through LinkedIn.

Continually committed to the health care industry, Dr. Fallon is a member of the Association of Pathology Chairs, the American Medical Association, and the North Carolina Society of Pathologists. He is also a founding member of the Society for Cardiovascular Pathology.

In light of his success, Dr. Fallon received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Cardiovascular Pathology. He attributes his medical accomplishments to being in the right place at the right time and having the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional individuals.
