A certified project management professional, Mr. Vertil has earned distinction as the Vice President of Business Strategy and Vice President of Membership for the Project Management Institute (PMI) of New Jersey. Serving in this volunteer capacity since 2020, he is responsible for strategic partnership development, as well as leading volunteer engagement efforts and recruiting new talent. Having initially joined PMI as a symposium vendor manager in 2017, Mr. Vertil went on to serve as a business relationships account manager between 2018 and 2019, and as a director of business relationships in 2019. Throughout this period, he is most proud to have engaged in various volunteer activities at PMI's global headquarters, including as a virtual speaker, and course developer. Likewise, he completed the PMI's Leadership Institute Master Class program in 2021 – a prestigious achievement within the PMI community.

Outside of his work at PMI, Mr. Vertil leverages over 16 years of project management experience in both public and private sectors, during which time he experienced numerous strategic enterprise-impacting initiatives within Fortune 100 companies and supported a number of multi-million-dollar programs. In his most recent role at Open Systems Technologies, he assists their client, Vertical Screen, an applicant screening firm, by leading the management and delivery of various security projects and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Previously, he consulted with such prominent companies as Comcast Business, Educational Testing Service, Partner's Consulting Inc., Lockheed Martin, and Ink Design LLC, beginning in 2007. He was also recently invited to join the Forbes Business Development Council; he will regularly contribute content to Forbes.com.

Having accrued a wealth of knowledge via consulting, Mr. Vertil has shared his expertise with others in the field of education as a professor of project management at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Beginning as a guest lecturer in 2019, he has gone on to teach 40-80 students every semester on strategic project management, Six Sigma, and change management. Additionally, Mr. Vertil serves as a member of Rutgers' Industrial Advisory Board, which advises the Professional Science Master's Program on the evolving educational and cultural needs of various industries and businesses.

Likewise known for his civic contributions, Mr. Vertil previously served (from 2020 to January 2024) on the steering committee for nonprofit consulting at the Institute of Management Consultants USA, the sole certifying body for individual management consultants in the United States. He is also an annual doctoral research reviewer at the Decision Sciences Institute, a professional association that is dedicated to the development of managerial knowledge. Additionally, Mr. Vertil served as a lecturer and business advisor on behalf of 100 Black Men of America Inc. from 2019 to 2020.

To prepare for his professional journey, Mr. Vertil earned an Associate of Applied Science in Multimedia and Design from Middlesex College in 2004 and a Bachelor of Science in technical management with a specialization in computer information systems from DeVry University in 2009. Following these achievements, he attained a Master of Science in computer information systems management from the DeVry University Keller Graduate School of Management in 2013. He subsequently gained a second Master of Science in project management from the same institution in 2015. Eminently qualified in his field, he is a Certified Project Manager Professional (PMP), Advanced Certified Scrum Caster, Lean Six Sigma black belt and certified risk management professional, and Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner, among numerous other credentials.

Mr. Vertil says, "Everything I do, the education, teaching, the volunteerism, is to continuously grow my experience and knowledge on how to generate an impact in the lives of others. This is why I care so much about challenging myself to learn as many management methodologies as possible and challenge myself to provide advice that aligns with industry leads in strategy development and project management. In accounting for his success, Mr. Vertil credits his unwavering dedication to continuous learning and self-improvement. His parents, both hailing from humble professions, recognized the importance of education and instilled this value in their son, emphasizing that academic advancement and hard work were key to achieving one's goals. Within the coming years, Mr. Vertil intends to continue improving his management consulting skills, including working with a renowned strategy consulting firm. He is also pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in business management, specializing in strategy and innovation.
