BOSTON, MA, December 11, 2023 - An entrepreneur who founded a Hong Kong company in 2015, said in a recent dispute that his intellectual property was stolen by a New York based insurance company, with a billion-dollar valuation.
The entrepreneur said in a recent trademark document, that he first started using the word "Lemonade" for financial and wealth services, before the New York based insurance company was even formed, and that his idea, early works, and designs had been copied.
Evidence of early work supplied by the entrepreneur included: a protected logo, of the word "Lemonade", used in combination with a pink design, and with a reference for money purposes. The logo was commissioned by the entrepreneur on 24 July, 2015, on an online design platform in Australia, (see 1. below).
Further, the entrepreneur also registered a prior-domain name in 2015 with the word "Lemonade", and on a website it described offering finance services.
In a response letter, the insurance company has denied any wrongdoing.
