Robert J. Rhudy, JD, Recognized by Marquis Who's Who

DARLINGTON, MD, October 02, 2023 - Robert J. Rhudy, JD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over four decades of expertise in the legal industry, Mr. Rhudy specializes in mediation, facilitation, strategic planning and legal counsel. Since 2012, he has found much success as an independent attorney, mediator and consultant. Prior to this role, he was active as the director of mediation for the Court of Special Appeals in Maryland from 2009 until 2012. In addition to his main career, he serves as the president and executive director of Senior Mediation and Decision-Making Inc. since 2007. In this capacity, Mr. Rhudy provides training and consultations on mediation in family caregiving, adult guardianship, estate planning and other senior or elder conflict areas around United States and Canada.

Mr. Rhudy initially began his vocation working as of counsel at Babich Goldman PC, formerly known as Allen, Babich and Bennett PC, from 1975 to 1978. Following this post, he excelled as an executive director of Coalition for Legal Services in Washington, DC from 1983 until 1985. Between 1986 and 2003, Mr. Rhudy garnered expertise as an executive director of the Maryland Legal Services Corporation.

During this time, Mr. Rhudy also served as a consultant to the Maryland Department of Aging, University of Maryland Center of Aging, the Open Society Foundation, the American Bar Association, The World Bank Group and the Inter-American Development Bank. In his career-related endeavors, he has written numerous books, monographs, scholarly articles and columns, including "Engaging Conflict for Fun and Profit: Current and Emerging Career Trends in Conflict Resolution" in 2014.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Rhudy worked as a teaching assistant at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and taught poverty law and aging and lobbying at The University of Iowa and the University of Maryland. Furthermore, he was active as a research associate for the Center for World Order Studies, and the director of the Iowa Public Interest Research Group. Additionally, Mr. Rhudy was appointed by Chief Judge Robert Bell to the Maryland Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission from 1998 to 1999, and to the Executive Advisory Committee for the Maryland Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office from 1999 until 2004.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Rhudy pursued an education at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history. He continued his academic efforts at The University of Iowa College of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in 1973. As a commitment to his field, he has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Harford County Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Rhudy contributes to the National Association of IOLTA Programs, the National Equal Justice Library, the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations, the Association of Conflict Resolution, the Maryland Alliance for Justice Reform, among others.

Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Mr. Rhudy has received multiple awards, including the Professional Legal Excellence Award, the Maryland Leadership and Law Award and the Arthur W. Machen Jr. Award. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud to have garnered expertise in legal aid, public interest law, legislative advocacy, strategic planning and nonprofit consulting in the United States, Canada and other countries. Looking toward the future, Mr. Rhudy aspires to continue working in his specialty for as long as possible and hopes to publish his next book titled, "Adventures of Bryan and Bob."
