Raymond George Capwell Jr. Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Nursing

ANN ARBOR, MI, September 28, 2023 - Raymond Capwell has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A former United States Army paratrooper and medical corpsman with more than 50 years of expertise in nursing, Mr. Capwell retired from his work as a nurse anesthetist in 2022. In this capacity, he administered various types of anesthesia, including general, spinal, and obstetric epidural anesthesia. Previously, he worked as a nurse at a hospital in Montana and as a locum tenens nurse in Michigan. Over the years, he has gained valuable expertise in nursing with the University of Michigan Hospital, the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Indian Health Service in Montana. During the early stages of his career, Mr. Capwell dedicated himself to his country as a member of the United States Army Medical Corps and the United States Army Nurse Corps, through which he served as a lieutenant colonel.

An expert in his field, Mr. Capwell finished the nurse anesthesia program at the United States Public Health Service Hospital on Staten Island, New York and became a certified registered nurse anesthetist. Similarly, he graduated nursing school at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. While his career has been filled with standout moments, Mr. Capwell takes the most pride in performing his duties admirably and improving the lives of his patients. Another highlight was having a terminally ill cancer patient express that he had brightened her life through laughter.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Capwell credits his overall success to his commitment to pushing forward despite the challenges in his way, his genuine concern for others, and the support of his wife. Looking toward the future, he intends to maintain his good health and continue enjoying his retirement. Ultimately, Mr. Capwell aims to savor the simple pleasures in life.
