LOXAHATCHEE, FL, August 02, 2023 - Dr. Gifty Chung has been included in Marquis Who's Who. An expert in developing virtual school programs, Dr. Chung has distinguished herself as a dedicated educator for more than two decades. As the daughter of immigrants, she aspired to become an educator while coming of age in order to help more young people gain access to proper education. To prepare for her career, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, with a minor in general education, from the University of Florida and a Master of Education in secondary education with licensure in Spanish from the University of Akron. She subsequently attained a Doctor of Philosophy in education and educational leadership from the University of Phoenix. Well qualified in her profession, Dr. Chung holds a principal certification from the University of Akron.
Following her academic accomplishments, Dr. Chung began her career as a teacher for Akron Public Schools, working at Perkins Middle School for six years. While working in this capacity, she discovered how many students had tremendous potential but lacked access to the necessary resources and a nurturing environment to help develop their skills. In light of this, Dr. Chung shifted her focus to making an impact on students within and beyond her local community.
Since 2007, Dr. Chung has found success as the owner of Forest Trail Academy, an online K–12 school that provides world-class education and accredited high school diplomas to virtual and homeschool students. As the owner, she coordinates with web developers and the marketing team while also maintaining daily correspondence with her colleagues and parents. She also creates season plans depending on semester and monitors the technology involved to ensure the business is flowing smoothly while students are receiving an excellent education. In 2017, the academy was named as the Number 3 Online School in the World, while she herself was honored as the Best Administrator in Home School Education in 2019.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Chung plans to explore new technologies to make the academy's classes more effective, such as utilizing virtual reality. She is also seeking methods to make access to education more available to students despite their location or financial status, with the understanding that all students deserve the opportunity to succeed.
