An accomplished professional with more than 15 years of experience in process analysis and change and operational management, Mr. Holder presently excels as the Division Director for the New York City Employees' Retirement System. Since obtaining the role in 2016, he has overseen the public facing teams within the organization. He maintains responsibility for policy setting and system modernization projects, and liaises with key internal and external stakeholders. Working for the New York City Employees' Retirement System since 2014, Mr. Holder held the following positions prior to obtaining his current position, he served as Acting Division Director for Client Services and before that Associate Director of Information Technology/Process Management.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Holder gained valuable expertise with New York City's largest public service agency, Human Resource Administration (HRA), where he served as Program Director for WeCARE, an innovative approach to Welfare to Work for NYC residents with medical barriers to employment and receiving public assistance. He served as a Senior Project Manager and Consultant for CMA Consulting Services, and was a Business Analyst/Project Manager at the New York City Department of Education, working on a team that was funded by a grant received from the Bill Gates Foundation to create a contact center for the pedagogical staff of the NYC DOE.
Outside of his work, he contributes to his community as the Executive Director of The Music of Ethan's Heart Inc., which was established in honor of Ethan Zachary Holder, his son, whose life was cut short by gun violence on October 12, 2022. Through the organization, Mr. Holder has been able to mourn his 19-year-old son while turning his pain to purpose, in the advocacy and fundraising to support music therapy for the non-verbal autistic children in NYC public schools, as well as music and arts for all students. Mr. Holder has also recently been appointed to his local Community Board, where he intends to continue his acts of service to his community, advocating for better standards of living for those with whom he shares a community.
An expert in his field, Mr. Holder earned a Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology from the City University of New York's Brooklyn College. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning the ITIL Service Design. ITIL Service Operations, ITIL Service Transition, and ITIL V3 Foundation certifications through PeopleCert. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in the work he does for the Music Of Ethan's Heart, Inc. Within the coming years, Mr. Holder intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
