Olivia Hickerson has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

OLYMPIA, WA, May 30, 2023 - Olivia Hickerson has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Drawing on a background in community programming and shelter management, Mrs. Hickerson is recognized for her vision as executive director of SideWalk, an organization that strives to end homelessness through community engagement and evidence-driven practices. Since stepping into this role in 2022, Mrs. Hickerson has showcased her leadership skills by overseeing the financial stability of the organization, performing strategic planning, and building relationships with community partners.

Ms. Hickerson came to SideWalk from Skagit Friendship House, where she worked for three years as Winter Shelter manager and First Step Center manager before stepping into the role of interim executive director in 2022. Previously, she held roles with Sophia's Center, Fidalgo Care Center & Rosario Assisted Living, and Oliveto Italian Bistro.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Mrs. Hickerson earned an associate degree in criminal justice and corrections from Seminole State College and a bachelor's degree in social science and government from Liberty University. She holds a Core Advocate Certificate which is comprehensive training that qualifies participants to provide direct services to victims in Washington State.

Among her career accomplishments, Ms. Hickerson is particularly proud to have received the 2023 Community Hero Award, which recognizes unsung heroes in her area. A dedicated and caring leader, she attributes her success to her transparent and solutions-focused nature; she genuinely wants to help others and inspires others to do the same. This is true both in her work at SideWalk and in her adjacent activities, such as participating in the national organization Built for Zero for Thurston County, the Rotary Club of Olympia, Victims Support Services or Mariposa DR Foundation, or raising her son.

Looking toward the future, Mrs. Hickerson hopes to further assist her area's unhoused population by building tiny home villages throughout Thurston County and build on her organization's diversion assistance program.
