Marquis Who's Who Honors Sherry Jane Stock for Expertise in Brain Injury Education and Services

MOLALLA, OR, May 26, 2023 - Sherry Jane Stock has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Stock is an experienced brain injury specialist trainer and entrepreneur who established Brain Logistics LLC in 2018. As the organization's co-owner, she facilitates and provides training and educational services to medical professionals about brain injuries and comas. In addition to teaching them how to recognize a brain injury, Ms. Stock helps them better understand the patient's condition and how to care for them properly.

As an expert in her field, Ms. Stock has also been serving as the executive director of the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon since 2002, the only statewide nonprofit organization to focus on brain injury prevention, resource facilitation, education, advocacy, peer mentoring, and support groups. In her role, Ms. Stock manages many aspects of the organization, including hosting annual conferences in various states to educate the public about brain injury and serving as a trainer and presenter for judicial, private, and public organizations. She also serves on several interstate committees, such as the Brain Injury Task Force of Idaho and the Brain Injury Task Force of Oregon, and several state commissions.

Adding to her expertise, Ms. Stock has been traveling abroad since 2005 to assist Americans that have sustained brain injury while abroad. Once she conducts an assessment, she will bring them home and ensure proper placement. Among other initiatives, Ms. Stock has served as a grant reviewer at LCG Inc., a consulting and technology services firm, since 2002. Moreover, she has served as a keynote speaker and has been highlighted in the media in several television and radio interviews nationwide for her expertise.

Inspired to build awareness and seek justice, Ms. Stock's three-month-old son was severely injured in a car accident involving a drunk driver, leaving him with significant brain injury and other complications. Working closely with legislators for more than three years, California passed a law that any driver with two or more driving under the influence (DUI) offenses with or without injuries would lose their license. The individual that had hit Ms. Stock and her son notably had seven DUIs with injuries at the time.

Apart from her success in changing the law regarding DUIs, Ms. Stock collaborated with a father whose son had been hit while playing football, suffered a concussion, and endured a seven-month-long coma. Together, they were instrumental in passing a bill requiring all coaches to participate in annual concussion training. This bill is now in effect in all 50 U.S. states.

Civically invested, Ms. Stock has served as the secretary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 3973, since 2022. She has also served as the chairperson of the Medicaid Long Term Care Quality and Reimbursement Advisory Council since 2015. Among other initiatives, Ms. Stock has been a founding board member of the United States Brain Injury Alliance since 2008. Moreover, she remains involved in numerous charitable organizations and offers free time to help disabled children and disabled military members.

To support her career endeavors, Ms. Stock graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in medical sociology, epidemiology, and health science from California State University in 1993, followed by a Master of Arts, an All But Dissertation/Doctor of Philosophy in medical sociology and systems science, and a Master of Arts in international gerontology from Portland State University in 1995 and 1996, respectively. Ms. Stock also received certification as a brain injury specialist trainer through the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists in 2008.

In recognition of her success, Ms. Stock has garnered several awards, including an Outstanding Advocacy Award in 2010 from the Oregon State Rehabilitation Council, a Pioneer Award in 2013 for her 30-year contribution to brain injury, an Appreciation Award in 2019 for her dedication and commitment to the Oregon Disabilities Commission and the State of Oregon.
