She had previously found success as a technical superintendent of control systems engineering at DuPont de Nemours, Inc.'s Washington Works' chemical facility in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Dr. Schall has additionally held leadership positions at General Electric Lighting and the Eastman Kodak Company.
Alongside her responsibilities as a consultant, Dr. Schall was appointed as a board member of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. between 2005 and 2008 after serving on their engineering accreditation commission for more than five years. From 2003 until 2014, she contributed to the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University on the industrial and professional advisory council. Dr. Schall was also elected as the president of the aforementioned university's Engineering Alumni Society in 1998, which had initially recruited her as a board member in 1991.
Moreover, Dr. Schall has served as the chairperson of the staff-parish and finance committees of the Front Royal United Methodist Church and as the treasurer of the Northern Shenandoah Valley American Society for Quality, Section 131. She had previously served as the founding chairperson of the aforementioned section between 2001 and 2003 and as the chairperson of the American Society for Quality's Freund-Marquardt Medal committee. From 20 I0 until 2017, Dr. Schall also participated on the Warren County Public Schools' Project Lead the Way partnership team, helping high school students explore careers in the engineering and biomedical fields.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from The State University of New York at Fredonia in 1981, Dr. Schall followed the advice of her father to pursue a career in engineering. She subsequently completed a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering at the Pennsylvania State University's College of Engineering. Following graduation, Dr. Schall served as the chairperson of an advisory committee for the Penn State Women in Engineering program.
In 2018, Dr. Schall was selected for a Medallion Award by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, which distinguished her as a fellow two years later. She had previously been honored with an Outstanding Engineering Alumna Award on behalf of Penn State's College of Engineering and a Distinguished Service Award on behalf of Penn State's Engineering Alumni Society. During her tenure at DuPont, Dr. Schall was celebrated with a Silver Award and Bronze Award for Engineering Excellence.
In addition to her notable communication skills, Dr. Schall attributes a great deal of her success to her persistence. In the coming years, she intends to play a central role in the growth of small manufacturing companies across the U.S. She also aims to expand her personal brand through presentations and authoring a book on the essentials of healthy manufacturing.
