He was invited to become the Financial Controller for a hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where he revolutionized the operation of the property. He engaged the entire team, comprising 200 associates, and pushed them to break all records. The success of his approach resonated, and he was invited to join the US team, where he served as the Cluster Financial Controller for two properties in Orlando, helping to create the cluster of services for Melia Hotels International for America and developing several automated tools that the company still uses to evaluate its daily operations.
In 2015, Valquir accepted his most significant challenge to date, becoming the Director of Finance for the Bahamas' massive 4.5-billion-dollar resort, Baha Mar, that employs 5,000 people across four different hotel brands and has multiple venues. He was tasked with revolutionizing the resort's finance operations, improving team morale, and changing the way finance in hospitality does business. His vision and creations led to a promotion to VP of Corporate Finance, where he is responsible for digital transformation across the entire resort.
Valquir holds a bachelor's degree in hospitality management and is a certified Scrum Master by Scrum Alliance. He is also certified in Data Analytics by Google.
