Margo Taylor-White Lauded for Excellence as a Funeral Home Director

CHICAGO, IL, April 24, 2023 - Margo Taylor-White has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A licensed funeral director and embalmer. Ms. Taylor-White began her career as assistant bookkeeper at Taylor Funeral Home in 1978. Upon graduation from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, she completed her internship and became a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer. She then committed herself to learning every working facet of the funeral home. In 1985, she and her brother managed the C.B. Taylor Funeral Home on North Avenue for two years. That was her chance to hone the skills she learned at the primary Southside location. When she returned there, she became an integral part of administration, subsequently learning much more in that area. She departed from the industry for six years to assist in raising her granddaughter. In 2015. She returned to the industry as an administrator. Over the years. Ms. Taylor-White has encountered many obstacles in the field due to her status as a woman. Through tenacity and persistence, however, she has overcome them all to maintain her success with Taylor Funeral Home.

Following her father's death in 2022, she is now co-owner and office administrator of the funeral home as well as an entrepreneur and writer in her own right.

In conjunction with her work, Ms. Taylor-White dedicates herself to her community through her new organization, White Girls and One Guy. It is her goal to sponsor a major fundraiser in conjunction with her 75th birthday celebration. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, the Board of Directors of Zion City Baptist Church and several other community organizations. An expert in her field. Ms. Taylor-White also earned a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Development from North Park University in her early 50's and a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Full Sail University at the age of 62. She feels it is never too late to learn and improve yourself.

Due to her professional achievements. Ms. Taylor-White was nominated to Who's Who in the early 1990's. Taylor Funeral Home was noted as one of the top three Black owned funeral homes. Throughout her career, she has contributed to The Austin Voice Community Newspaper and also received a Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Leadership. Looking towards the future. Ms. Taylor-White aims to restore the funeral home to its former glory, help independent funeral directors, and further establish her nonprofit organization, White Girls and One Guy, which aims to help single mothers and assist displaced teens. She will always continue writing.
