Jennie L. Hamilton Recognized by Marquis Who's Who

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 21, 2023 - Jennie L. Hamilton has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over five decades of expertise, Ms. Hamilton specializes in performing arts and education. Since 1982, she has built a prolific career as the co-founder and an executive director of the Community Actors Theatre, the only minority-owned and operated theater venue in San Diego, California. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing the non-profit all-volunteer theatrical troupe, programs and projects. She initially began her vocation at the San Diego Unified School District, where she first served as a teacher's assistant from 1967 to 1973, and later excelled as an elementary school teacher from 1974 until 2002. In her career-related endeavors, Ms. Hamilton has also directed and performed in various plays, films, videos and television commercials, and has authored numerous plays, skits and poems.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Hamilton pursued an education at the San Diego State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in elementary education and teaching in 1974. She continued her academic efforts at Pepperdine University, earning a Master of Education in 1978. As a commitment to her field, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the National Council of Negro Women Inc. and the Phi Delta Kappa Sorority. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Hamilton has dedicated five decades to the Bethel Baptist Church, where she contributes to the church nursery, ministry, the Pearl Frye Circle missionary group, and the World Missions and Evangelism Center for Hundredfold Living.

Well-regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Hamilton has received multiple awards, including the Pioneer Award from the San Diego Performing Arts League in 2022, the Arts and Community Service Award from Nu-Way ICM in 2022, and the Diversity and Outstanding Community Service Award from the Sphinx Shriners International in 2014, to only name a few. Additionally, she has been recognized as one of the Phenomenal Women in Entrepreneurship via the National Council of Negro Women Inc. in 2015 and has been featured in various television, radio and newspaper outlets throughout the years. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud of establishing the Community Actors Theatre, where she and her team still produce plays and conduct acting workshops. Reflecting on a long career, Ms. Hamilton attributes much of her success to her passion, hope and love for her specialty.
