Conducting sales online, in stores and at farmers markets, the company is entirely run by Mrs. Elias and her husband, Duane, who since 2018 have overseen all business operations.
The inspiration for COASTAL980 LLC was Joy's passion for hand crafted all natural skincare and home goods that are good for your health and help with living a daily nontoxic lifestyle. After starting with two products in 2018 and seeing such a great need for more, COASTAL980 became so much more than a business idea, it became a mission for Joy and Duane to offer incredibly clean all natural products to their customers. COASTAL980 Wash Day Laundry products are one example of Joy's drive and passion for the daily essentials we use to be nontoxic. Her number one reason for Wash Day Laundry products was Mrs. Elias's father, who in 2018 was undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. His doctors encouraged the family to stop using mainstream laundry soaps, softeners and other products due to the harmful additives they contain. As a result, Mrs. Elias decided to start making her own all-natural laundry products, and after testing and refining, nontoxic laundry essentials started taking off. Thanks to the passion and motivation she brought to the endeavor, her hard work has paid off with a successful business and a feature in the South Carolina Voyager Magazine in 2022.
Among her career accomplishments, Mrs. Elias is especially proud of the impact her products have had on her loyal customers. She is honored and humbled to speak with clients and hear how her products have made a profound difference in their lives. She specifically recalls one gentleman who broke down in tears at a farmers market out of frustration over his difficult-to-treat psoriasis; he purchased her 1st Aid Balm, which helped him clear up his skin. Mrs. Elias's own journey being diagnosed with lupus 18 years ago helps her relate to the challenges and hopelessness her clients can feel.
Prior to starting COASTAL980 LLC, Mrs. Elias was self-employed as a nanny for 14 years; she loves children, and also volunteered with the children's ministry of her local church. Presently, she stays busy creating her existing products and planning for additional nontoxic products in the future. When she isn't working on all things COASTAL980 she enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, four-wheeling and traveling.
