BERKELEY, CA, March 20, 2023 - Nicolina Janette Gallo has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over two decades of diverse expertise, Ms. Gallo specializes in graphic design and digital image curation. Since 2022, she has found much success as a resident researcher of digital curation and museum studies at Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs, while concurrently serving as the in-house graphic designer at Berkeley Student Cooperative's Hillegass-Parker House as of 2021. Prior to this role, Ms. Gallo was active as a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley from 2020 to 2022.
In 2001, Ms. Gallo began her career working as a Clinical Laboratory Administrative Assistant at John Muir Health, while concurrently serving as a Teaching Assistant at the City College of San Francisco from 2001 to 2002. During her time living internationally throughout Palestine and Israel, Denmark, France, the UK, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada from 2004 to 2010, she garnered expertise as a freelance author at Sassafras Oil Publications from 2007 until 2009. Between 2010 and 2015, Ms. Gallo was active as an Op-ed Commentator and a subculture researcher at Examiner.com, followed by a post as a Disability Employment Consultant at AbilityFirst.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Gallo pursued an education at the City College of San Francisco, where she obtained a Magna Cum Laude Associate's degree in Anthropology in 2002, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004. She continued her academic efforts at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures specializing in Ancient Mediterranean Art History and Archaeology in 2022. As a commitment to her field, she began a residency program for Childhood Museum Education and Digital Curation at the Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs in 2022. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Gallo contributes to such organizations as Courage to Refuse, the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolition, Neve Shalom-Wahat Al Salam, the International Solidarity Movement, Médecins San Frontières/Doctors Without Borders and Polar Bears International.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Gallo is most proud of her volunteer work in Palestinian and Israel, where she taught English and Art, and built houses for refugees. Additionally, she is gratified to have completed the early Childhood Development and Museum Education program at Johns Hopkins University. Reflecting on her career, she attributes much of her success to the support of her mother and her experience learning within a diverse environment at the University of California, Berkeley. Looking toward the future, Ms. Gallo aspires to attain a position with UNICEF working with Middle Eastern refugee children and hopes to contribute more to the Arctic nonprofit organizations to help preserve the culture, climate and the polar bear population in that region.
