Catherine Alicia Georges, EdD Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Education

BRONX, NY, February 17, 2023 - Catherine Alicia Georges, EdD has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For more than four and a half decades, Dr. Georges worked as a professor at CUNY Lehman College, where she also served as chair of the department of nursing. Throughout her work with Lehman College, she taught in the baccalaureate, master's degree, and doctoral programs for the Graduate Center of the City of New York. Additionally, she established the family nurse practitioner program in her department. Over the years, Dr. Georges also gained valuable expertise in the field with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.

Alongside her work, Dr. Georges has devoted herself to her community as chair of the National Board of Easterseals, a member of the alumni board at Seton Hall University, and head of the National Black Nurses Association. Similarly, she volunteers with the National Alliance for Children's Grief. In order to remain abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the American Academy of Nursing. An expert in her field, Dr. Georges holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Seton Hall University, a master's degree in community health nursing from New York University, and a doctoral degree in higher education administration and policy studies from the University of Vermont.

In light of her professional expertise, Dr. Georges earned the Living Legend Award through the American Academy of Nursing, an Honorary Doctorate from A.T. Still University and the College of New Rochelle, and the Outstanding Alumna of the University Award through Seton Hall University. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in serving as the national volunteer president of the AARP, chairing the Department of Nursing at Lehman College, and earning the Living Legend Award from the American Academy of Nursing.

Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Dr. Georges attributes her success to a strong Virgin Islands family. Her father has always told her she could do whatever she wanted to do as long as she worked at it. Likewise, she has met some amazing mentors that have helped her through her professional journey. Within the coming years, Dr. Georges aims to enjoy her retirement, play golf, stay healthy, and continue to travel the world.
