THAI Provides Flight Support on Upcoming Warner Bros. Film ‘Meg 2: The Trench’

July 04, 2022 - As part of the collaboration with Warner Bros., Thai Airways will provide direct flights to Thailand from locations around the world, and ensure the safety of film production equipment during air transit.

Long known as an attractive foreign film hot spot, many well-known films have been set or shot in Thailand. This includes ‘The Beach’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and more recently ‘The Hangover Part II’, starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis.

‘Meg 2: The Trench’, the upcoming sci-fi action film, features another Hollywood A-list actor in Jason Statham. The English actor is best known for portraying tough and physical characters, and has starred in films including ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’, ‘Snatch’, ‘The Italian Job’, and the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise.

THAI views the Warner Bros. collaboration as an essential step in continuing to promote Thailand not only as a prime tourism destination, but also in cementing the country as the center of Southeast Asia’s film industry.

The Director of Sales at Thai Airways International, Korakot Chatasingh, proclaimed as part of the partnership announcement, “Thai Airways, Thailand’s national airline, is happy to provide flight services as well as facilitate the film production team throughout their journeys.”

While exact filming locations in Thailand have yet to be disclosed for “Meg 2: The Trench’, pre-production has been underway since March 2019, and Warner Bros. Pictures has announced the film will be released in the United States on August 4, 2023.
