Indian Pilgrims can Visit Mount Kailash Next Year

LHASA, CHINA, May 21, 2022 - Since 2020, many Indians have contacted Tibet travel agencies, expressing their desire to go to Mount Kailash of Tibet for a pilgrimage. However, due to the worldwide Covid-19 epidemic, Tibet almost remained closed to tourists and pilgrims could not make the trip.

This year, we keep receiving many inquiries for Tibet trips from Indian people. Moreover, it is also of interest to tourists who live in Nepal and other countries such as the United States, France, Malaysia, etc. who hold Indian passports.

According to the voting results of a recent meeting held by the Tibet Tourism Bureau, Indian pilgrims can enter the Ngari region of Tibet in 2023 when China opens its border. For detailed information, you can closely keep an eye on our website. So this year, Indian pilgrims still have to wait for their Tibet trips.

Yet, starting April 28 this year, Tibet has been opened to Indian passport holders currently residing in low-risk areas of the country within China, as well as foreigners of other nationalities.

Mount Kailash is a 6,638 m (21,778 ft) high peak in the Kailash Range, which forms part of the Gangdise – Nyenchen Tanglha range in the Ngari Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. The mountain is located near Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal, close to the source of some of the longest Asian rivers: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali.

Mount Kailash holds great power because the tip of the mountain is the center of the universe's rotation. It is considered to be sacred in four religions: Hinduism, Bon, Buddhism, and Jainism. In Hindu tradition, the mountain is the abode of Shiva.

As all above these, Indians have been longing to go to Kailash for a long time. They believe that even making a pilgrimage only once in their life will bring blessings.
