WEST PALM BEACH, FL, May 19, 2022 - Signarama®, the world's largest sign franchise, has facilitated the recent rebranding for Thermo Fisher Scientific, following the acquisition of PPD (Pharmaceutical Product Development) – a research company headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware – completing the rebranding of all signage and graphics at 23 global offices simultaneously. Jeff Newman, owner of Signarama in Southborough, MA, led the rebranding project with the help of 16 Signarama franchisees worldwide.
Signarama, part of United Franchise Group's family of affiliated franchise brands and consultants, are individually owned and operated in over 26 countries. This recent endeavor involved incorporating the Thermo Fisher brand, including their logo and their key corporate themes and design elements into PPD's existing office spaces. The complex project entailed replacing PPD's signage and branding elements on exterior walls, monument signs, floor mats, entrances, lobbies, reception areas, and anywhere else that displayed the PPD corporate identity. Thermo Fisher Scientific's four "I values" – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement – was also incorporated in the design. Everything had to follow Thermo Fisher's specific brand guidelines for a consistent, cohesive look at all offices and it all had to be ready on the first day the sale was legally official for the new ownership so that everyone at each PPD location would feel a part of the Thermo Fisher family on Day One.
"It was a very complex timing challenge to try to get each site surveyed, new signage designed, fabricated, with the sign permits approved (where required), and ready for installation so that on Day One, each local Signarama could go in and remove all the PPD signage and rebrand it to Thermo Fisher Scientific," said franchise owner Jeff Newman. "Our Signarama franchise owners and their teams worked incredibly hard over several weeks to make it happen. Initially, we had about 30 days to get the new signage ready for the projected Day One and this posed some real timing challenges to get the signage ready. As with past rebranding projects for Thermo Fisher Scientific, each and every Signarama rose to the challenge and was ready to go."
Thermo Fisher chose Signarama in Southborough as its preferred sign company 15 years ago primarily due to their worldwide footprint matching well with Signarama's global scale. Since then, Signarama franchisees worldwide have facilitated about two dozen rebranding projects for Thermo Fisher with tremendous success. "The PPD rebranding project was a multifaceted assignment requiring sophisticated project management and communications skills," Newman said, "Being part of a franchise organization with very experienced owners simplified the execution."
