BROWNSTOWN, Mich. - April 27, 2021 - Groupbloc.com launches their NFT photos marketplace in beta with a handful of photographers listing their photographs for auction. Photographers can list their works on the Groupbloc website and choose a starting bid similar to how someone would list a product on Ebay, except in this case the product is a digital NFT photo.
NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) represent units of data, in this case digital photographs, that are stored on a digital ledger called a blockchain which certifies the digital item to be unique and therefore non interchangeable. NFTs have become a hot commodity as of late mostly due to the sale last month of digital piece of art called Everydays: the first 5000 days, created by the digital artist known as Beeple for $69,346,250.
Before listing an NFT on most sites the seller must pay what is called a Gas Fee which is the fluctuating cost of 'Minting' an NFT based on the congestion of the Ethereum network, where NFTs are Minted. Gas fees to mint a single NFT can range from between $1 to $100. "We understand that gas fees can be quite high and in some cases become a barrier to entry for many photographers so we Mint the NFT on behalf of the photographer after the successful sale of a photo." says Founder Faisal Khan
By making the signup process seamless Groupbloc plans on targeting a large user base, mostly from Instagram. "Instagram photographers can now sell their photos, many of which are just stunning, on our NFT photograph marketplace and earn an income doing what they love." Says Khan. Groupbloc, which is currently in beta, is inviting a limited number of photographers to list their works with a starting bid of their choice and plans to open up more spots in the coming months.
