Biden on Trade: What Can Industry Expect from the New Administration

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. - Feb. 17, 2021 - Diaz Trade Law's first 2021 webinar, "Forecasting the Next 4 Years of Biden on Trade," will launch on 3/3/2021. All involved in trade policy—including customs brokers, regulatory affairs professionals, in-house legal counsel, product development managers and others—will enjoy detailed, high-value industry insights, and will find relevant and useful information, as well as continuing education credit. The webinar is the first in a series that covers a wide array of customs and trade topics.

Senior Trade Advisor Todd Owen, former Executive Assistant Commissioner, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO), Jennifer Diaz, President, and Sharath Patil, Associate of Diaz Trade Law, will present on trade relations under the Trump administration to the forecasted relations under the new Biden administration. The speakers will discuss how the industry is changing—and what industry needs to know to prepare for the future.

Owen will initiate a discussion regarding the effect of the shifting political landscape on the day-to-day operations of CBP trade priorities. The presenters will conclude with a forecast regarding what the industry needs to know about the future of trade.

The learning objectives of this webinar include an overview of Trump's trade policies—covering everything from USMCA to China to Vietnam to the E.U.; an analysis of the United States trade deficit under Trump; an overview of Biden's trade priorities; and a forecast of the types of Section 301 tariffs that industry can expect. The webinar presenters will also explore a comparison of Cuba under the Trump and Biden administrations, consider forced labor and CBP Priority Trade Initiatives, and discuss what brokers can expect at the ports of entry in terms of trade policy and enforcement. Finally, the webinar will present the differences between CBP enforcement under the evolving administration, discuss 301 Exclusions, and detail the future of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) after its recent expiration. The hour-long presentation will be packed with useful and important information to help your firm respond proactively to a quickly changing trade landscape.
