D.C. Power Couple Join Altavoz, Inc

PALISADES, D.C. - Feb. 9, 2021 - Altavoz, Inc. announced that Gwendolyn and Samuel Washington have made an undisclosed investment in the Company and will provide support to the President and CEO in a variety of critical growth areas. Gwendolyn joins the Altavoz board of directors and will serve as legal advisor. Samuel will serve as technical advisor for a new line of distribution and transportation services to be announced in the first quarter of 2021.

Gwendolyn (Gwen) McDowell Washington is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia and a graduate of the College of William and Mary. Ms. Washington earned her Juris Doctor Degree from the George Washington University School of Law in 1999 and began her legal career as the judicial law clerk for the Honorable Anita M. Josey-Herring, the presiding Chief Judge of D.C. Superior Court. For 18 years, she served as an attorney at the Public Defender Service for D.C. litigating criminal and ancillary civil matters. Ms. Washington also served as a managing attorney in the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center's Landlord and Tenant Resource Center and as the Pro Bono Director for Rising for Justice. She currently serves as the managing attorney for Legal Counsel for the Elderly's Tenant Advocacy and Support Practice. Ms. Washington is a member of several bar associations and civic organizations, and has served as a board member and executive officer in various non-profit organizations. She was co-awarded the D.C. Bar's Frederick B. Abramson Award in 2015 and co-awarded the Shepherd Park Citizen Association's Community Service Award for 2018.

Samuel C. Washington comes to Altavoz with more than twenty-two years of experience in infectious disease and environmental epidemiology. He was previously Senior Director, Public Health for a major federal-defense contractor in the D.C. area and holds a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology/Biostatistics from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of the District of Columbia. Mr. Washington moved into the federal contractor arena in 2008 with the Logistics Management Institute (LMI), assuming the role of Public Health Program Lead contracted to the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Washington has also been a contractor to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease (USAMRIID at Fort Detrick MD). In 2010, he was the project lead at VA tasked with re-tooling the National Health Study for a New Generation of U.S. Veterans, the VA's first comprehensive study to identify and evaluate risk factors associated with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, heavy metal exposures, and other chronic, deployment-related medical conditions in returning Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom veterans.
