Munchy Play Named One Of The Top Uk Startups 2020

MIDDLESEX, U.K. - Dec. 27, 2020 - Munchy Play has been named as one of the most "promising start-ups for 2021" in The Sunday Times.

Business commentators, including Emma Jones and Richard Branson, named their businesses to watch for the year ahead, including Munchy Play in the esteemed list.

The innovative children's tableware, features a built-in track for toy cars and trains, to bring toddlers to the table and help keep them there. It was launched in lockdown earlier this year by entrepreneur Sophia Procter. The playful range is currently available on Amazon, as well as www.munchyplay.com priced £14.50, or £18.99 for a two-pack.

Speaking in The Sunday Times, Emma Jones founder at Enterprise Nation, said: "Sophia had the idea for a kids' plate with a play track around it for toys and trains, to help at toddler mealtimes… With her customers online, Sophia has taken to low-cost social media channels to reach her market and offer a smooth buying experience for her British-designed and manufactured product."

As a new business in UK 2020, Munchy Play has received an 'Honorary Special Recognition Award' by the Global Women in Innovation Network (Global WIIN), won Theo Paphitis 'Small Business Sunday', and was a finalist in the 'Children's Tableware' category at the Junior Design Awards 2020/2021. It was also named by the Mail Online and Families magazine, as one of the best Christmas gifts of the year.

Munchy Play founder and CEO, Sophia Procter, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be named as one of the start-up's to watch in 2021. It has been a challenging year for start-ups, with plenty of hurdles to overcome and many more to face. However, the business community and parents everywhere, have really supported us and propped us up along the way. There is so much goodwill for small businesses at the moment, especially British and female founded enterprises like ours, for which we're very grateful.

"We must thank the Amazon Accelerator Programme with Enterprise Nation, which has given us a platform and the tools to develop and grow."

Munchy Play was three years in development, before launching in July this year. Procter stumbled across the idea, while looking for ways to get her fussy eater toddler to come to the table. Inspired by the results, she set out to create a kids' tableware range that would excite little ones about dining. After all, the best way to get kids to the table and keep them there is to make it an enjoyable place to be.
