Agallah & Sadat X - The Gods Have Arrived

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Sept. 24, 2020 - For hip-hop stalwarts Agallah & Sadat X, titling their album The Gods Have Arrived just made sense. Whether it's on the solo tip or as part of a group, these two New Yorkers have lived and embodied that raw, honest boom-bap for decades. And with this project, we find the two like-minded artists reaching a new musical zenith as a duo with an impeccably produced and sharply written project.

"The gods have arrived!" Sadat exclaims when speaking on the inspiration for the title. "Both of us are veterans and this project shows our maturation." Agallah shares that sentiment when speaking on the record, adding that they're just building from the foundation and letting heads know they're making music for the streets.

"We wouldn't make this music if there wasn't a want for it," states the emcee/producer. "So many people are tired of the wack bars and gimmicks in today's hip-hop culture, and we had to keep it as raw as possible."

That rawness comes through on every track thanks to Agallah and Sadat's bars, which stay on point whenever they grab the mic. As they've done throughout their careers, both emcees blend bravado with that real shit. You can hear that when Agallah gets political amidst the tough talk on "The Boppers," an absolute banger that he produced (like the majority of the LP), and when Sadat spits vivid rhymes on "Praise The Lords" featuring fellow legend Greg Nice. And we'd be remiss to not highlight "Book of Acts," Sadat's personal favorite track because Agallah's off-kilter production forced him to try new techniques.

Beyond their talents, there's a real kinship on display with The Gods Have Arrived that makes the pairing feel organic. And there's a good reason for that. The two have known each other since the '90s and stayed close, recording tracks here and there before realizing that they have something greater to offer. And that's exactly what we have with The Gods Have Arrived, which you can support now through all major DSPs via Propain Campain Productions in partnership with Fat Beats.
