Access-IS helps deliver contactless bag tag printing with BBC Tagomat®

September 19, 2020 - Reading, UK - Access-IS is pleased to announce the OEM integration of its LSR116 ticket reader with BBCs Tagomat® innovative bag tag solution.

Recently installed at Copenhagen Airport (CPH), Tagomat units printed more than 40 000 bag-tags in their first 40 days with an average print time of less than 10 seconds. That impressive speed of delivery combined with a completely contactless operation allow airports, like CPH, operating in a COVID-19 world to offer a safe, secure and speedy passenger experience.

The integration of the LSR116 provides ultrafast and completely contactless 1D/2D barcode ticket reading from mobile phones, tablets, wearables and paper from a single point of presentation and in any orientation. Its robust design with no moving parts makes the LSR116 extremely easy to integrate in almost any kiosk, gate or enclosure. The LSR116 shares an identical physical form to the LSR118 which means that if the barcode only LSR116 is designed in, it can simply be substituted with the LSR118 barcode and NFC/RFID reader.

CPH have installed fixed Tagomats as well as deploying the Tagomat mobile solution which includes independent battery power allowing them to be placed anywhere in the airport without the need for power or connectivity. This flexibility means the Tagomats go where the passengers need them, in recent times the need for social distancing has changed the way in which passengers queue and are processed, the flexibility of Tagomat makes it easy for operators to adapt their passenger environments without the need for expensive changes to infrastructure.

Speaking about the installation, Rune Thunem, CEO of BB Computerteknikk AS said “Tagomat® units are in live operation printing bag-tags for passengers travelling amongst other with: Norwegian, SAS, Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz, Widerøe, Atlantic, Transavia, KLM, Air France, Icelandair, Aegan, Sunclass Airlines and more”. He continued “The Access-IS LSR116 has added to our ability to deliver a seamless and intuitive passenger experience”.

Speaking about the partnership with BBC, Raj Jain, Head of Airport and Airline sales for Access-IS said “We have now seen our LSR116/118 products installed widely with BBC, we are delighted to have now integrated our latest TripTick® reader which offers a very low profile design with the range now extended to include a model offering barcode & NFC/RFID reading with contactless payment capability”.
