ICON Managed, Historic Lake Forest Yacht Club Undergoes Makeover

DAPHNE, Ala. - Sept. 18, 2020 - The first and oldest private yacht club in Daphne, AL, announces that it achieved approval for a $700,000 club renovation and expansion. The project, which began in 2018, is anticipated for completion by the spring of 2021.

Nestled along the upper part of Mobile Bay on the Eastern Shore of Alabama, The Lake Forest Yacht Club was founded in 1971. Today, the Lake Forest is home to 3200 homeowners and their families.

The recently approved restoration project will completely update and improve the club venue that was originally built over 40 years ago. Improvements and needed repairs to the exterior and interior will provide the space a much needed fresh look. Renovations will include items that will enhance the sunset views with refurbished deck spaces, require less maintenance by utilizing sustainable design elements which will also update the facade architectural features and improve operational function and flow.

John Lake, current President of the Lake Forest Property Owners Association (POA) could not be more excited to be a part of revitalizing this historic club. "As a teenager, I worked at the Yacht Club as a bus boy and dishwasher. I can remembered right after the club opened it became the gathering place it was for the community as a whole and the strikingly beautiful sunsets that were available to all of the Residents in Lake Forest." He continued, "We look forward to bringing this gorgeous Bayfront club back to its original glory and creating an inviting space that will long be considered an invaluable asset for our community."

Once relaunched, the Yacht Club will feature expanded hours and an exciting new menu with an emphasis on local sourcing. Lake Forest's Property Owners Association Member's, their Guests, other Visitors and Groups will be able to enjoy an enhanced dining experience in one of the rare waterfront locations located on Mobile Bay along the Eastern Shore of Alabama in a renewed facility in which they will be proud.

Lake Forest would like to acknowledge: Victoria Phelps, past POA president and renovation project co-coordinator, the entire planning and design team, Rebecca Whiteside, Architect of WHLC that has worked endlessly on Exterior and Interior design elements, Seth Dunn, the General Contractor and owner of Livingstone, for being awarded the renovation project and his invaluable assistance in bringing additional design ideas and pricing, Managing Partner Simon Coulls of ICON Management for his unwavering support, the Attorney for LFPOA Patrick Collins who helped navigate FEMA and City of Daphne Building Regulations, and all the members of the renovation committee, as without their help Lake Forest would not have arrived at this significant project milestone.
