ANTWERP, Belgium - Sept. 5, 2020 -For his third single from the upcoming album "The Voice of Strauss", Flemish singer Harry Coseman radically revisits a famous Strauss polka. "Tritsch-Tratsch" was originally written by Johann Strauss II in 1858 after a tour of Russia. The title refers to one of Vienna's great pastimes in the mid-nineteenth century: gossip. "Chit-Chat Polka" updates it to the world's most powerful gossip machine: social media.
"People don't realize how modern the Strauss family was," says Coseman. "They wrote waltzes about the technology of their time, such as telegraphs and the new steam trains that revolutionized travel in Europe. There is no question that they would have dedicated a song to Facebook!"

The lyrics, by Irish lyricist Michael Leahy, play on the ambiguity of putting everything online and then deploring the lack of privacy.

The result is a lively song that bubbles along over themes of love, privacy and the opinion of others. It is light and fun, but talks straight to the important discussions surrounding the Internet.

"Chit-Chat Polka" is one of a number of Strauss melodies from the album "The Voice of Strauss" that will be released over the coming months. The songs all take the unforgettable Strauss melodies and adapt them to the 21st century. Recorded with the Strato-Vani Orchestra, the songs also feature in an upcoming TV special recorded in Nevada, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The live debut took place on a canal near Hasselt, rather than the Danube.
