Excess Cucumbers Turns into Business to Help Women Destress and Care for Themselves

CYPRESS, Texas - Sept. 1, 2020 - According to Prevention.com, some 65% of American women suffer from symptoms of stress daily. That same report said that the majority of the stressors these women experience come from inside the home. Alexander Farm & Orchard's (AFAO) mission is to help women destress their lives and nurture their sacred spaces—Mind, Body, Home and Garden. The company emphasizes self-care through a line of natural handmade soaps and has plans to expand to branded bakeware, home decor and gardening tools.

AFAO founder, Lisa N. Alexander says she can identify with stress that comes from inside the home and how it impacts your physical and mental well-being.

"Soaping became a form of therapy for me when the stress inside my home escalated," Alexander explained. "I still marvel at how during that very difficult time, I was able to create a thing of beauty that would aid in my own self-care," she continued.

In 2017, the backyard gardener planted a number of cucumber seeds that turned into more cucumbers than their family could eat, pickle or give away. That's when Alexander got the bright idea to make soap. She lovingly names the bars after women in her family and women who have inspired her.

"I did my research, made my first loaf, took a picture and posted it on Facebook. The next day I had an order for 50 soaps," Alexander explained.

The company has loyal fans and glowing reviews. "Our customers tell us they appreciate that our products don't use harsh chemicals and makes bathing feel luxurious," said Alexander. "We're very proud of our products and love that our customers are such raving fans," she continued.

AFAO connects with women who understand stress's impact to the mind and body and who embrace a holistic approach to health and wellness. "I'm grateful for this brand that allows me to help women transform their spaces into sacred ones so they can enjoy a stress-free home full of love, laughter, and comfort," beamed Alexander.

The company recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on iFundwomen in order to expand their product line, update equipment and hire additional staff.
