AFAO founder, Lisa N. Alexander says she can identify with stress that comes from inside the home and how it impacts your physical and mental well-being.
"Soaping became a form of therapy for me when the stress inside my home escalated," Alexander explained. "I still marvel at how during that very difficult time, I was able to create a thing of beauty that would aid in my own self-care," she continued.
In 2017, the backyard gardener planted a number of cucumber seeds that turned into more cucumbers than their family could eat, pickle or give away. That's when Alexander got the bright idea to make soap. She lovingly names the bars after women in her family and women who have inspired her.
"I did my research, made my first loaf, took a picture and posted it on Facebook. The next day I had an order for 50 soaps," Alexander explained.
