OKLAHOMA CITY - Aug. 11, 2020 -Painted Turnpike, the well known APHA registered Paint racehorse & stallion, will stand stud duties at WestWin Farms in Purcell, OK for 2021. Painted Turnpike will be the first paint to stand stud since owner Bryan Hawk purchased the farm last year.
Trained by Matt Whitekiller, throughout Painted Turnpike's stellar career, he was in the winners circle for 26 times, from 31 starts along with a bankroll of $465,442.00 The 7-year-old son of PYC Paint Your Wagon is out of High Class Turnpike by Royal Quick Flash. Jockey Cody Rodger Smith was aboard for all 31 times Painted Turnpike entered the starting gate. Painted Turnpike is the pride and joy for co-owners Nolan & Verna Pevehouse.
Painted Turnpike arrived from Sallisaw, OK at approximately 11:00 AM and accompanying him for the journey was Trainer and Co-Owner, Matt Whitekiller, Verna Pevehouse and Robin Haggard. Painted Turnpike made the transition to his new home very smoothly.
"He is an easy horse to be around," said Whitekiller after unloading the grade one winner from his personalized trailer.
Final plans on his stud fee are still in the works.
Although Painted Turnpike was in training this spring and summer, he did manage to get a crop on the ground for 2020. His best son, Wf Turnpike Candy, an Oklahoma Bred, was a winner of the Futurity (restricted to Paints & Appaloosas) which was run on April 25, 2020.
Trainer Matt Whitekiller and the colts owners recently decided to take Painted Turnpike out of training and retire him from the track after only having one start this year at Remington Park.
WestWin Farms was purchased last year by owner/breeder Bryan Hawk of Shawnee, OK. "Painted Turnpike was such a fast horse out of the gate. We are very pleased to have him added to our stallion roster." The other stallions at WestWin are, Code West, Mister Lucky Cat and Pass The Buck.
