Tammy Baldwin Endorses Palzewicz For Congress

BROOKFIELD, Wis. - Aug. 1, 2020 - Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin has endorsed fellow Democrat Tom Palzewicz for the Fifth Congressional District seat. "We need more leaders in Washington who are dedicated to servant leadership and putting party over politics. Tom will restore integrity with his focus on fixing the economy, ensuring all Americans lead healthy lives, and that our children feel safe in school while receiving a quality education. He is a veteran with experience in running a business and banking, which makes him an effective leader and qualified person to represent Wisconsin in D.C."

Baldwin and Palzewicz share many of the same positions on key issues, including voting rights. Baldwin and her colleagues in the United States Senate introduced the bipartisan John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which would restore the landmark Voting Rights Act.

"This is a major step forward for our campaign," said Palzewicz. "Tammy Baldwin is a tireless worker for the people of Wisconsin. She is always fighting for fairness, equality, and opportunity for every man, woman, and child in our state and around the country. I admire her energy, her dedication to service, and her humanity. It will be a privilege to work with her."

Baldwin was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, making history as Wisconsin's first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate. She is committed to working across party lines to strengthen the essential pillars of economic security for the middle class - investments in education and workforce readiness, quality health care for all Americans, building a strong manufacturing economy, and ensuring retirement security for today's seniors and future generations. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, elected in 1998, Balwin was a champion of middle-class economic security. She helped craft the landmark Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, leading the effort to include the provision that now allows young people to remain on their parents' insurance plans up to age 26.

"Tammy has an impressive legislative record," said Palzewicz. "From her days in the Madison Common Council to the House and the Senate, she has been unselfish in her efforts to help people have a better life. She is a Senator for all the people of Wisconsin, working across party lines to advance the right causes."

"Military veterans are often taken for granted or even forgotten," said Palzewicz, who served six years as an electronics technician on a nuclear submarine, "I appreciate her steadfast support of veterans."
