Kuester Management Group Reflects on Social Distancing Activities for HOA Communities

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - July 31, 2020 - As the coronavirus pandemic rages on, homeowners have been forced to adjust to the latest guidelines and safety protocols. This has changed a lot of people's normal routines and many business' operations. But keeping people safe is a top priority. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding ways HOAs can continue to engage with members while encouraging safe social distancing.

"Many people have gotten creative and figured out ways to provide services or socialize without having close contact with others," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "Associations may not be back to 'business as usual,' but they can still offer enjoyable experiences to members."

One option is to hold more activities outdoors, says Kuester. If members can't use the gym yet, have someone lead a class outside to do yoga, jump rope, cardio, or a dance fitness class. Select a location where members have plenty of room to spread out and don't need equipment – or use something they can bring from home. Worried about overcrowding? Have an online signup to limit attendance at each class. Virtual classes of all types could also be held over Zoom or another video conferencing platform.

The board can also work with local food trucks to bring them to the neighborhood for different takeout options. Members can order their food and take it home or have a picnic in the grass, keeping a safe distance from others. The association could also coordinate an outdoor movie night where members can order from a food truck or bring their own snacks, then watch a film from their car or the grass.

"There are also things members can do from home such as decorating their sidewalk with chalk or participating in a neighborhood scavenger hunt so families have something fun to do while they're out walking," says Kuester. "Perhaps have a mailbox or porch decorating contest to get people involved and excited."

Kuester is committed to helping HOA communities work through changes and challenges presented by the pandemic and other issues and keep functioning as effectively as possible.
