Professional Webinar Series: Cascadia High Speed Rail & Transforming America

SEATTLE - July 7, 2020 - The US High Speed Rail Association is honored to host the third high-speed rail webinar in its professional webinar series: Cascadia High Speed Rail & Transforming America, which will take place July 13, 2020, 1:30pm EDT.

The webinar will focus on advancing high speed rail in America and the plan to connect the Pacific Northwest region of the United States: Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, British Columbia.

Washington State Department of Transportation Secretary Roger Millar will share the news about the progress of the Cascadia High Speed Rail plan. He will talk about the feasibility study that identified regional benefits of more than $355 billion in economic gains. Secretary Millar will speak to the opportunity to create a transformative, modern and efficient transportation system that is fast, frequent, reliable and environmentally responsible.

Secretary Ray LaHood served as the US Transportation Secretary during the Obama Administration, and will discuss rolling out a national high speed rail program. He led the process to begin the program with 2009 stimulus funds as seed money for the initial projects.

Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA, 6th District) will discuss his proposal for the next stimulus package that will include $205 billion dedicated to developing the nationwide high-speed railway system. Public funding like this will support projects such as the Cascadia High Speed Rail.

"We're excited to have such distinguished speakers to discuss America's transportation future, and how we're going to finally get it built!" – Andy Kunz, President & CEO US High Speed Rail Association
