Texas grocer partners with Louisiana State Representative Vincent Pierre to deliver 1,000 face masks

LAFAYETTE, La. - May 7, 2020 - This is all in an effort to help stymie the spread of COVID-19 in the area. The items will be delivered to the community on Saturday, May 9th at Maid To Clean, 924 Simcoe Street. They are excited to do their part in the fight against the virus and in helping their community in this most troublesome time. It is well-known that Louisiana has been the hardest hit state in terms of those affected by COVID-19 (also known as the Novel Coronovirus). Face masks have been in especially short supply since the pandemic began, particularly in Representative Pierre's home base of Southwest Louisiana. The initiative to provide residents with Personal Protective Equipment comes with a sense of urgency as Louisiana continues attempts at "flattening the curve" in terms of the virus spreading. Much of Southwest Louisiana's most vulnerable population has been without masks and sanitizing agents. Once the need was realized, the group went to work trying to find a quick solution to assisting people in practicing safer solutions and more widespread prevention techniques.

Pyburn's Farm Fresh Foods was started by Vietnamese immigrant John Vuong. Mr. Vuong is the epitome of an American success story. He, along with several family members, took over his first store in Texas in 1994. As a result of his leadership, the company grew to be key in the fight against inner city food deserts. Larry Johnson of Pyburn's will be involved with this giveaway. Rep. Pierre is a community leader known for being a voice for the voiceless. Maid To Clean is owned by Sammy Pierre, another well-known leader in the region. Because of the very nature of his business, Mr. Pierre is keenly aware of the importance of decontaminating. 3Gs Remodeling Service, LLC is a Gulf-Coast based construction firm headed up by Rodrick Grogan. Simien and Miniex, APLC is a prestigious, minority-owned law firm. This union of community leadership is going to bring much needed relief to Southwest Louisiana.
